The design is pulled from Sac & Fox ribbon work appliqué. The design is an original of my creation, influenced by my own family's design and my Sauk peoples designs. For the bold colors, I pulled them from the painting I created for the First American’s Museum, Reunion with our Ancestors. The main two-color swatches of deep red and blue in the Sauk design in the middle represent the land and the sky. The multiple circular dots on both sides represent the clans and the fluid lines connecting them signifying community connection of the people. The entire design shows not just Sauk peoples, but Indigenous people's connection to the land, the sky, and most importantly our people.
