Cherokee Basket Weaving (Green) by Bryan Waytula (Cherokee)
Acrylic Painting
9" x 12"
Cherokee Basket Weavings (Green) is an acrylic painting created by Cherokee artist Bryan Waytula. He is an award-winning artisan that has been shown and collected throughout the American Midwest.
The works displayed at First Americans Museum store are original pieces emblematic of symmetry, distinct forms, and clean line work. Each painting depicts parts of traditional Cherokee basketry, which is imagery Waytula has been greatly impacted by not only because of his heritage but also his familial ties. Instead of illustrating another realistic composition that Waytula is known for, he has chosen colorful painting palettes to bring forward the basketry motifs in a contemporary style.
