Sauk Survival by Tony Tiger (Sac & Fox/Mvskoke/Seminole)
Mixed Media Painting on Paper
19" x 22"
"My art is an exploration of the human experience through symbol and metaphor; mankind is more than mere reflections in the mirror we are soul and spirit." – Tony A. Tiger
Tiger's mixed media pieces demonstrate indigenous ancestral knowledge as experienced in the twenty-first century. The first layer of his work are geometric shapes that symbolize the male and female, which is then overlayed with acrylic paints. The use of cool colors pushes forward every brushstroke of warm washes within Tiger's compositions without losing the abstract patterns of the first layer.
