JJ Otero (Navajo/Hopi) is an Indigenous metalwork artist who transitioned from a career in Information Technology to pursue the arts. His background includes music, painting, and cradleboard making before focusing on jewelry.
He has gained recognition through acceptance into the Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair & Market, SEEDS Art Market, and Santa Fe Indian Market.
Otero creates handcrafted jewelry and metalwork using sterling silver, copper, brass, turquoise, and natural stones. His work features detailed engraving, symbolic patterns, and textured finishes that reflect Indigenous identity and a commitment to contemporary Native metalwork.
